Message You can fit 285's on the Z without them sticking out of the fenderwells, right? 285's are a lot of tire, and doing a widebody to put on 315's isn't going to make a huge difference. For most people, you'd be better off getting better performance tires, suspension mods, and practicing launching. Insanely wide rears aren't going to help much with handling, and will decrease the sensitivity to throttle input while cornering. You're increasing unsprung weight, usually.

And if you're all out into drag-racing, enough to be willing to spend thousands of dollars on widebodies, you should just get drag radials anyways.

I really think you're getting very diminishing returns by getting more and more massive tires. And people probably don't even need 650 rwhp in the first place, so if you have a realistically tuned Z, you probably shouldn't need anything wider than 285's anyway.

BTW, I think a while ago somebody posted a how-to on notching the rear upper control arms to fit wider tires without them sticking out. I'm not too sure about the potential repercussions of cutting into the control arms, but there is a way of putting wider tires on without altering the body.
